We Can Make Pakoras with Asma Asif
Description
Join us in learning how to make pakoras and mint sauce. Asma will be demonstrating how to make this iconic dish.
Did you know?
- The word "pakora" comes from the Sanskrit words pakvavata or pakwada, which refer to fried dishes.
- While the classic pakora is made with chickpea flour and vegetables, there are countless twists. Some popular types include paneer pakoras, chicken pakoras, spinach pakoras, and even bread pakoras!
- In India and Pakistan, pakoras are a favourite monsoon snack.
- Since pakoras are traditionally made with chickpea flour (also known as gram or besan flour), they are naturally gluten-free, making them a great option for people with dietary restrictions.
- In Pakistan, pakoras are practically a Ramadan tradition. They’re a go-to iftar dish during the holy month, served with chutney and dates to break the fast.
- In 2012, a restaurant in London set a Guinness World Record by creating the largest pakora ever, weighing over 110 kilograms (243 pounds)
